Not at All. The name of the post comes from a quote from C.S. Lewis; “We make men without chests and expect of them virtue and enterprise.” C.S. Lewis, “The Abolition of Man” (New York: Touchstone, 1996), pp. 35. The point is that we need believers, men and women of strong conviction, strong hearts, filled with the truth of God. That is the emphasis of menwithchests.com.
We don’t need a church looking to have felt needs met. We need men and women who fully trust Christ, have died to self, and are ready to engage the world with absolute, propositional truth as it is found in the Word of God, no matter the cost. In other words; the Church is NOT Dr. Phil encouraging personal narcissism, or Joel Osteen encouraging his followers to “find their best life now.”
The True church are those born from above by the grace of God, identified in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, gratefully and sacrificially worshipping, selflessly living for Christ with the greatest message of all, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There can be no greater cause for living! We are the “doulos” slaves, servants, of the King of Kings!
