There can be no doubt that we live in an age that is hostile to Christianity, especially Biblical Christianity that takes a historical/literal view of the Scriptures. This is once again expressed by NBC News’ Chuck Todd who clearly suggested that Trump voters (directed at Evangelical Trump Voters), believe in fairy Tales like Noah’s Ark.
While much of the scientific world is also hostile to Biblical concepts like a young earth and a special 6 day fiat creation. The concept of a world-wide flood holds a special hostility as it clearly speaks to the concept of God’s judgment on man for his sin (Genesis 6:5-8). The Apostle Peter spoke to this issue very pointedly:
2 Peter 3:1-7 (NKJV) 1 Beloved, I now write to you this second epistle (in both of which I stir up your pure minds by way of reminder), 2 that you may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Savior, 3 knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, 4 and saying, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For this they willfully forget: that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, 6 by which the world that then existed perished, being flooded with water. 7 But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
And just for the record, Jesus believed in the judgment of God through the Noahic flood.
Matthew 24:38-39 (NKJV) 38 For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, 39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
One thing we need to remember, there is no way one can look at the Flood of Genesis 6 and think it was a fairy tale. This was an event where God judged mankind and destroyed man in that judgment. There was no, “and they lived happily ever after,” except for the eight survivors and the animals God sovereignly placed in the ark. This was a cataclysmic event, of world-wide proportions that will only be eclipsed by God’s promised judgment of the world through fire.
2 Peter 3:7 (KJV) 7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
2 Peter 3:10 (NKJV) 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up.
Chuck Todd and other like him, may want to poke fun at those who take God at His Word. But they do so at their own peril.
Psalm 14:1 (NKJV) 1 The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good. (see also: Romans 3:10-12).

Oh… a footnote… Psalm 14:1 in the Hebrew reads: “The fool has said in his heart, no God“.
